Aldactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) that has a diuretic effect, increases excretion of natrium ions and decreases excretion of potassium and magnium, decreases urinary acidity. The diuretic effect appears after 2-5 days of taking this drug. Aldactone is used in combination with other drugs to treat hypertension.
Directions
If you have an arterial hypertension, take the medicine 50-100 mg dividing into 1-2 intakes a day. You may share with 1-2 uses daily after a meal or before bedtime. The dose can be increased till 200 mg if it's necessary. Inform your doctor before using this medicine.
Precautions
Avoid drinking alcohol, which can increase some of the side effects of Aldactone.
Avoid eating salt. Too much salt will cause your body to retain water and can make this medication less effective. Consult with your doctor concerning the liquid's quantity that you need use.
Contradiction
Allergy, addison disease, hypercaliemia, potassium-sparing diuretics such as Aldactazide, amiloride, triamterene, hyponatriemia, chronic kidney failure, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, pregnancy, and some others. Take this drug only if was prescribed by your doctor.
Possible side effect
The common side effects of Aldactone include nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, irregular hair growth, drowsiness, rash, impotence,irregular menstrual periods, and constipation. Some of the serious side effects of this drug are shallow breathing, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, tremors, and irregular pulse rate. Drug interaction
Usually drug interactions occur when it is taken with another drug that raise blood potassium levels. Spironolactone can cause an eminence of digoxin of blood to poisonous levels.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose and it is almost time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose
Overdose
