Keflex is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics. Keflex fights bacteria in the body.It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections.
Directions
For adults the dose consists from 1 till 4 grams in separate doses. The range between taking the medicine may be 6 or 12 hours.
Precautions
Inform the doctor if you have any allergies or kidney disease and diabets.
Contraindications
Don't use the drug if you are pregnant,allergy. Younger babies also can't take it.
Possible side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, pale skin, dark colored urine, fever, easy bruising , unusual weakness, confusion.
Drug interaction
Before using Keflex, tell your doctor if you are using any of probenecid,or take vaccinations.
Don't use medications that decreasing secretion in renal tubules increase concentration of the medication blood serum and slow down its excretion.
Missed dose
Take the medication the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and use the medicine at your next regularly scheduled time. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention accordingly. The possible symptoms: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, and blood in your urine.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
