Seroquel is an antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain.
It is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and is also used to treat manic depression.
Seroquel is also used together with antidepressant medications to treat major depressive disorder in adults.
Directions
Take Seroquel exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use this medicine with a full glass of water. You may take Seroquel with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. Breaking the pill may cause too much of the drug to be released at one time. The dose are different for first day using and the next taking of this drug. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Precautions
Seroquel is not for use in psychotic conditions related to dementia. It may cause heart failure, sudden death. Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, heart illness, diabetes, a thyroid disorder. Seroquel may impair your thinking or reactions.
Contraindications
Allergy, gestation, breastfeeding. This drug may cause heart failure and sudden death.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have an allergic reaction, mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, diarrhea, feeling of impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive, more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.
Drug interaction
This medicine can cooperate with narcotic pain relievers, medications for hypertension and their activities add: oxycodone and acetaminophen. In cooperation with the drugs that influence work of cytochrome P450 which is responsible for metabolism of Seroquel can appear toxility.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose can cause giddy, fast heart rates and weakness. If you think you have overdosed Seroquel seek emergency medical help at once.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature 15-30 C (59-86 F). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
